Is this The Best Exercise In The World Ever?
I've been quite happy with life over the last couple of weeks. That's because I think I've found The Best Exercise In The World Ever to do - and it leaves me feeling great after. (If you're not a gym bunny, don't worry, there's something you'll love coming up...)
Why is it The Best Exercise In The World Ever? Because it's like a full workout in ten minutes - it tones biceps, back, legs, bum, stomach, everywhere pretty much, as well as being good aerobic exercise, and basically does a good all round job.

Exercise is of course one of the best ways to de-stress and feel better, because of the endorphins you release. But if you're not particularly exercise-inclined, that's fine and I have a technique for you that in my experience has worked particularly well for many.
Progressive Muscle Relaxation involves tensing and releasing different parts of the body, to get more relaxed. It sounds totally weird, I know, but it's great. My adaptation of it now is called Squeeze. Next time you get stressed, try this and tell me how you get on.
- Clench both hands into tight fists. Go on, squeeze as hard as you can. Harder. Make them tense. See white knuckles. Hold for a few seconds.
- Slowly release, and at the same time extend your arms and hands away from your body and with your open hands facing upwards.
- Allow yourself to notice how the muscles relax as the tension flows away. Really take care to notice all those feelings of relaxation spreading from your hands all the way through your body.
- Repeat as needed. (1 minute)
In this technique, you’re taking all of the tension in your body and channelling it. It won't tone you like the kettlebell swing, but it's a great de-stresser.
